Oxford Economics Buys 51% of NKC Economists of South Africa

Oxford Economics bought a majority stake in South African research company NKC Independent Economists.

The U.K-based research group acquired 51 percent of NKC on May 13, Managing Director Noelani King Conradie said by e-mail. NKC will be renamed NKC African Economics.

NKC Independent Economists was founded by King Conradie, abformer group economist at PSG Investment Bank, in 2002 in Paarl, about 65 kilometers (40 miles) northeast of Cape Town. The company provides economic and political analysis of 30 African countries.

“The investment by Oxford Economics supports the firm’s strategy to strengthen its coverage of emerging markets,” NKC said in an e-mailed statement, without giving financial details of the purchase. Source: Bloomberg
