Chinese Investor Buys 51% of South Africa’s Swartland Winery

William Wu buys stake for undisclosed amount, according to e-mailed statement from Swartland, based in Malmesbury, near Cape Town.

* Winery processes 25,000mt of mostly red grapes/yr; supplies local, international mkts; * Wu to be chairman of Swartland, replacing Frans Maritz; also has stake in Veenwouden winery in Paarl. Source: Bloomberg
